The president of Algeria,Abdelmadjid Tebboune has chosen to go for isolation before the country is due to vote in an important constitutional referendum, this is after some of his close allies tested covid-19 positive thus his doctors advised him to go for a five day isolation in fear of him contracting covid-19.
His office has said that he is doing well and still doing his work while at home and has not being confermed that he has been infected.
“On the recommendation of his doctors, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has resumed to a generalized care unit of the army’s central hospital in Ain Naadja in Algiers,” said the presidency statement.
If president Abdelmadjid will test positive for covid-19, his name will be added in the list of world political leaders who have tested positive for covid.
So far 57,000 cases have been recorded with more than 1,930 deaths in the country.
