Billionaire Buzeki, has resigned as the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Secretary General.
The move comes just a day after the party’s chairman and former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto hopped onto the Hustler Movement bandwagon headed by Deputy President William Ruto.
A report indicated that Buzeki abandoned the party on Sunday, January 17. He claimed that he would not be joining the movement.
Over the weekend, billionare Buzeki announced that he had resigned as the CCM Secretary General. He has accused the Wheelbarrow movement of being an induction meant to loot the country dry.

He has noted that he planned to unveil his own political party. This after claiming that Isaac made unilateral decision without consulting other members of the party. In his response, Isaac told Buzeki that leaders to make compromises to boost unity and cohesion.
“A true leader makes compromises that unite people. “We must love cohesion more than partisan party interests. Therefore I know what CCM stands for. Hence if you believed in the core pillars of CCM, you would be supporting the Hustler Nation,” he stated.
Buzeki had earlier threatened to quit the party after rumours emerged in December. This showed that Isaac Ruto was ready to throw his weight behind Gideon Moi in his quest for presidency.
At the time, Isaac had attended a Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) popularisation event. The Kenya African National Union (KANU) party leader hosted the event.
Buzeki had a longstanding fight with DP Ruto after he ditched the Jubilee Party in 2019 and decamped to CCM.
At the time, the tycoon accused the Deputy President of failing to honour agreements after clinching power alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Since his decamp, Buzeki has been a critic of the DP and is said to be a frontrunner for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat which he lost in 2017.
