The year 2020 has been a very difficult year for most of us, with the cruel hand of death taking a number of Kenyan celebrities who had made in their God given talents. Our hearts still ache with sadness, some of them died too young. Like the story that had just began, but death tore all the pages away. Here are some of the celebrities who died this year.

Papa Shirandula

The death of actor Charles Bukeko, famously known as papa shirandula, got so many Kenyans by surprise. This happened back in July this year. Papa passed on after a short illness while receiving treatment at the Karen Hospital. His burial took place in his rural home in Nanderema, Busia County on July 20th,2020. Charles Bukeko got the fame after getting to play the role of Papa Shirandula.

Comedian Othuol Othuol

The death of Othuol surprised many

The Churchill show comedian, Ben Maurice Onyango aka Othuol Othuol, passed away on October 11,2020, while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital {KNH}. News about his death was made public by Daniel Ndambuki aka Mwalimu Churchill, who is the Churchill show founder. He confirmed that Ben died after a long battle with Brain Tumor.

Churchill show suffered yet another blow after comedian Joseph Musyoki Kivindu, popularly known as Kasee, died. He died on June 28th, 2020 and people found his body by the road leading to his home. People knew about his sudden demise through Mwalimu Churchill, who was also condoling with the family of the deceased. Later on, an autopsy report indicated that Kasee, drank from a poisoned cup, leading to his death.

On June 11, 2020 an Ohangla musician, Bernard Onyango aka Abenny Jachiga, passed on. He lost his life while undergoing treatment at St Jairus hospital in Kisumu. He was admitted after developing breathing complications on June 9, 2020. On June 12, mourners tried stopping Abenny’s burial with lots of controversy. They were claiming that the time wasn’t enough to mourn the celebrity. They argued that the musician deserved a decent burial. Later on, he was burried under tight security at 2:30AM with only his younger brother, Austin Omondi allowed to witness the burial.

Lady Maureen

The beautiful queen of Ohangla music Maureen Achieka aka Lady Maureen, went to be with the lord on July 11, after a long illness. She passed on while recovering at their home in Uriri, Migori County, weeks after the hospital gave her the consent to leave. Before meeting her death, she was in and out of Hospital for almost three years. Lady Maureen not only entertained but also followed the sacred commandments of her people.

Popular Kalenjin secular singer, Amon Kipkirui, popularly known as Rhino Kaboom died in October following a road accident. The musician’s motorbike collided with a probox, along the Emining Eldama-Ravine road at night. The 27-year old musician made hit songs like Tamu Tamu Beril Chomyet, Monica and Lulu.

Jimmy Wayuni

The kikuyu musician, Jimmy Wayuni passed on in May, following a grisly road accident on the Thika-Nairobi superhighway. Wayuni was already dead on arrival at St john’s Githurai 45 Hospital. The musician was driving another artist home by the name Jacks Kibandi. The artist had hits such as Mama Sululu and Airitu a Ruiru.

Mzee Kihara

Kenyan actor Mzee Kihara used to feature in local dramas like Hullabaloo Estate, Vitimbi and Jungu kuu. He died in July 2020. People got the news about his demise through his fellow actor Hussein Yusuf. His death came barely a week after that of actor Charles Bukeko.

The 73-year old musician died on April 14 in the evening at 7 pm at his home in Langata. Kasongo had been battling with high blood pressure that later grew into a stroke. The musician, guitarist and song composer will be best remembered for the Kasongo composition that took the whole East Africa by storm.

The regal actor who was the star in the “Black Panther” film died in August 28, 2020. He died at his home in Los Angeles. He was aged 43. Chadwick died of colon cancer, which was said to be in stage 3 in 2016 and that it had progressed to stage 4.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant and his daughter died in a plane crash

On Sunday January 26,2020 a helicopter crashed in the Calibabas California. Nine people were on board. Among them was Kobe Bryant and his 13 year old daughter Gianna. According to the autopsy, the pilot flying Kobe Bryant and seven others did not have alcohol or drugs in his system.
