Charged With Forgery

Former accountant with Unesco, Catherine Nyakoboke has been charged with making a fake document without authority to enable her secure her job. She had objected to her plea taking last Monday saying that the prosecution had not finished with investigations to warrant her being charged.

Bernard Ochoi, the senior principal magistrate said that the accused had no powers to dictate whether the prosecution had finished their investigations in the case.

The magistrate ruled that the application of the accused was dismissed as it is pre mature since the police demonstrated that they are ready for the case and have already recorded witness statement. Nyakoboke is also charged that she allegedly made a certain document namely background check form purporting to be a document issued by Avicsshantui construction {EA} limited.

She appered before Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi and denied the charges. She argued that the court should reject the charge sheet claiming that police did not follow proper procedure while drafting the charge sheet against her.

She was released on a cash bail of sh100,000 or a bond of sh200,000. The case will be mentioned on October 7 for pretrial.
