Former Kakamega Governatorial Aspirant Mabel Muruli has today Friday, October 30th, 2020 succumbed to COVID-19. She vied for the governorship seat in August 2017. Most people in the county will remember her for her good work.
According to Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Kakamega has lost its hardworking, committed, courageous and humble daughter who greatly contributed towards the growth of their county.” I have learnt with shock and sadness the death of Mama Mable Muruli.May God grant her family fortitude and strength to bear the loss,” he said on his Twitter.

Her untimely death comes merely a day after Kakamega County Chief Of Staff Rober Sumbi also died due to the deadly virus while undergoing treatment. Earlier this week on Wednesday, Kakamega County Headquarters was shut following the high rise of positive cases in the County. The spike in COVID-19 cases in the County has prompted the Governor to declare that all County Government workers undergo mandatory Covid testing.
