A Kenya Broadcasting Corporation KBC staff Betty Barasa was on Wednesday night shot dead by robbers at her home in Kajiado County. In addition, She was on duty and has left the broadcast house in the city center for her new home in Ngong hoping to join her husband and three children.
She was a senior video editor at the KBC. She reportedly accosted at her gate as she was returning home from her job. There were three suspects. In their possession were guns which led Barasa into the house and held her family hostage harassed them demanding to be given money. In addition, two of the suspects were having armed with AK47 rifles.
The husband and children begged the gang to spare them and take anything they wanted. However, their pleas fell on deaf ears. A package consisting of the bullet recovered from her clothes.

According to the family, they remember hearing the gunshots coming from upstairs afterward. One member of the suspects leads the journalist upstairs. The other two remained to keep an eye on the other family members.
The exact motive for her instant killing has not yet established since she was shot twice on the head.

They picked her phone, laptop, and other unidentified personal possessions and left the compound. Finally, Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigation DCI send a shipment with promptness to the scene to probe the crime.
Additionally, the neighbors heard the gunshots in the compound when they learned of the incident in their neighbors’ house. Incidences of thugs roaming and robbing area residents’ items are on the rise in the area.
Barasa’s body awaits postmortem while at the city mortuary. The deceased’s husband and househelp are among those who have recorded statements with police so far.
Her colleagues at KBC have mourned her as a hardworking, kind, and dedicated employee who made a mark in her work.
