Kenya Electricity Generating Co [KenGen], is seeking a transaction adviser for the sale of certified carbon emissions-reduction units.
The state-controlled KenGen, which is the biggest producer of electricity in East Africa nation, has six clean development mechanism projects, with the potential to produce 1.5 million tonnes of carbon equivalent. The hydro, wind and geothermal projects have been certified under United Nations’ guidelines on climate change.
The adviser who will be picked will engage the market for emissions-education units on behalf of KenGen, and come up with sales and marketing strategy, the company said in a notice seen by Reuters on Tuesday.
On the other hand, KenGen Board renewed Rebecca’s contract as the Chief Executive of the company for another three years. According to the Board, renewal was done in a rigorous evaluation process.
Currently, Kenya is the 7th largest geothermal energy producer in the world and the leader in the continent. Geothermal energy generation, as a key green energy resource, has contributed towards building the country’s green energy capacity, with more than 80 percent of electricity generated by KenGen resulting from renewable sources, namely geothermal, hydro, and wind.Follow us in social media:
