The following article got me asking myself so many questions like, what would you do if you found out your better half was your brother on the day of your wedding day? How would you feel if your wedding was called off because both of you are of the same blood?
I just came across a story of this couple who met in the streets of Nairobi, in what both say it was love at first sight. Kikuyu elders performed a cleansing ceremony for the couple who found out they were brother and sister when it was already too late.
The couple got shocked to learn that they were related thus they were forced to shutter their dreams of getting married. The lovebirds had gone to visit the man’s parents in their rural home and announce their plans to settle down together when the truth finally dawned on them.
The man’s father told them that the lady was his daughter from his first marriage. Their parents told them to terminate the affair. The bride-to-be who said she had spent endless years looking for Mr. Right was devastated beyond measure.
When consulted, Kikuyu elders said a cleansing will have to be conducted since it’s a taboo for a brother and sister to sleep together. The elders then advised couples planning to wed to first consult their families before taking their relationship to the next level.Follow us in social media:
