Domestic Taxes Commissioner Elizabeth Meyo said that they have given roll out of the system for processing of waiver applications. Individuals and businesses have until the end of August to apply for defaulted taxes.
It is noted that individuals have until the end of this month to apply for amnesty on defaulted taxes. KRA said that those affected, who owe estimated Sh250 billion in tax arrears have up to the end of this month to apply for the waiver. Those seeking waivers must meet the requirements in line with Tax Procedures Act of 2015 that gives KRA’s power to forego penalties and interests.
Individuals and business must provide the proof of financial distress that show inability to pay penalties.
KRA has finalized the roll-out of systems enhancements for processing of waiver Applications and has embarked on clearing the backlog of application, Elizabeth Meyo said to the public. The applicants will be required to submit supporting evidences for each application within a period of 30 days from the date specified in the mentioned communication.
KRA warned people that it will demand full payment of penalties and interests accrued by individuals and businesses who fail to submit evidences for the waivers a head of August deadline.Follow us in social media:
