Leaders and Kenyans who assembled at the Bomas of Kenya during the BBI launching seemed to enjoy the background music playing at the event, little did they know that the man behind the mixes was a 28-year-old young dedicated man, who is in a wheelchair and this has been his wheels for about 10 years.
DJ Euphorique is President Kenyatta’s Deejay one of the men who are responsible for putting the president in good mood through his good music mixes.
During an interview in one of the media houses, Euphorique explained how being president’s deejay has been a dream come true, a dream that many Kenyan deejays dream about. He explains how he has never met with the president until one day when he received a call that required him to go to the statehouse to play music during a function for the president and his guests. He says he thought that there were many more deejays invited little did he know that he was the only deejay invited. After the function, the president shook his hand and gave him a warm hug, and recommended him for his good work.
This opened doors to many more opportunities and regular state house visits, he was always being invited to play during special functions, something that has led him to know the kind of music the president loves and what sounds makes him happy.
Euphorique says that President Uhuru Kenyatta loves reggae, gospel, and local music, and especially the munduiriri song by carol Wanjiru and iron lion Zion by the late Bob Marley and Sauti sol’s music. President loves dancing and especially when he is around the first lady Margret Kenyatta.
He says being in a wheelchair has taught him a lot, the best being God is the only true friend who can never leave you. He explains how most of his friends left him after he was placed in a wheelchair and he was only left with a few who accepted him for who he was till now.
According to him, the challenges he faced made him be a better version of himself.Follow us in social media:
