Francis Kamanga, a student at Ngenia high school in Limuru, Kiambu County, has invented a simple alarm system aimed at nabbing thieves. Apparently, Francis was motivated to develop the system after robbers attacked their home and stole his chicken. The system is so innovative that aside from raising an alarm whenever someone breaks into the house, it also calls the house owner.
The security system, which costed Kamanga Kshs 40,000 that was loaned to him by his parents, is also equipped with the ability to take photographs of the intruder. This means that it can be used for identification purposes whenever the owner is not home.
The form four student explained that his invention, runs on battery, a feature that enables it to work in areas without electricity. “The system does not require electricity, it is in fact powered by car battery and can be connected to a solar panel to recharge it.
Kamanga consulted his physics teacher before embarking on the venture after his chicken project went down the drain. The security system innovation has won him several awards at the Science Congress, with teachers appreciating his efforts.Follow us in social media:
