Athi River Police Officers have arrested two women, pursuing a child-trafficking deal in Mlolongo area Machakos County.
Diana Mwende who is one of the main suspects is reported to have been caught trying to sell her 2 weeks old son for mere 60,000 Kenyan Shillings. According to the Assistant County Commissioner Mlolongo Division, Mister Dennis Ongaga, they set a trap for the two women after the public had tipped them about the child-trafficking occurrences.
A number of the men in blue had posed as people in dire need of purchasing the bouncing baby boy in order to get the two culprits in the act. Unlucky for the two women, their sale capsized as they fell into unlucky hands of the police officers who arrested them and escorted them to Mlolongo Police Station for thorough investigations.
The innocent baby was placed under the care of a rescue centre that is located in Kitengela. According to police investigations and reports, young girls below the age of 18 years are mostly involved in the illegal business. It’s also being said that they are working hand in hand with women above 30 years of age who request them to act as house helps and nannies who upon employment abduct the kids and bring them to these women for trade.Follow us in social media:
